When I bought Dell computer 7 years ago, I bought a book “Windows XP - Time Saving Techniques For Dummies” (Wiley Publishing) which is one of very popular “Dummies” Series books.
The author of the book recommended ONLY ZoneAlarm Firewall software so I am fully confident with them.
They won numerous prestigious national and international awards.
Another bonus is that just after I recently started using Free AVG anti virus software, a screen message from ZoneAlarm came up, saying that they recognized Installation of AGV and they can sort of integrate into ZoneAlarm tool bar.
( I did not install this as I am a type of person who wants everything simple. How many features bells and whistles attached to products have you ever needed to use!? Normally most are unused)
This means AVG and ZoneAlarm work together with good compatibility.
