Free Warning – Use Surge Protector!! Thunderstorm Struck My Computer

USE SURGE PROTECTOR!!!!!

Thunder lightening struck my computer on Dec 16 and my computer was gone!!!! So I could not post.

The moment I heard the huge sound of lightening,my computer screen went blank and I had a bit burning smell.

I have a surge protection device integrating electrical and telehone line protection.
But I did not use telephone line surge protection function,THOUGH THE DEVISE HAS THE FEATURE.
IT IS MY FAULT!!!!! I am stupid.

My broadband was down at that time so UNFORTUNATELY I was using dial up internet connection.
All equipment such as monitor, keyboard,printer etc are ok,but dialup modem and mother board were damaged and repair cost is estimated $300.
My computer was 7 years old so I decided to buy a new computer tower.
I bought one for $420.

 Also I was told that surge protector does not protect 100%.
I will plug off power cablres rather than orderly shut down of my computer if thunder lightening starts. I do not care losing data.

I really has been stressed out for the past week. Why me? Just before Christmas.
When I went to the repair shop,2 people told me their computers were struck by lightening on the same day !

A Computer is an essential item like water or food!!!
