Domain Name Extension - Basic Types & Options

A domain name extension is also called a top level domain name such as .com, .org, .net, and a lot more.

Domain name extension like .com is particularly intended for the commercial organizations.
.net is then designed for network services just like the Internet Service Providers or ISPs.
.org is specifically designed for non-profit organizations.
Above .com, .net, and .org – are the most common and they belong on the international front.

In terms of a country by country basis, the common domain name extensions are based on the two-character ISO country codes.
Most popular country top level domains include the .fr for France, .jp for Japan, and http://.co.uk. It is well noted that these domain name extensions are generally under the control of the government and so adding a level of stability and durability seemed so tough to match.

Besides, during the year 2000 the ICANN approved a new set of domain name extensions which is composed of seven new top domains such as .aero, .biz, .coop, .info, .museum, .name, and .pro.
They are generally called “alternative top level domain names” and they will work in all parts of the globe.

And it is interesting to know the newest domain name extensions are .asia, .cat, .jobs, .mail, .mobi, .post, .tel, .travel.

Choosing The Right Domain Name For Your Business

When you're ready to take your business on the Internet it's imperative that you find the domain name that's perfect for your business. Some basic tips for your domain search are below.

Start your domain search with commonly used words in your business. For example, if you have an electrical supply business you should have words such as electrical, supply, electrician, power, and so on.
You'll then use these words as a basis to find a domain name that's perfect for your business.

If you have a business that has a company name/corporate then you may just want to register your business with the business name and a dot com extention. This tends to work well on business cards and in other forms of off-line advertising.

If you're planning on trying to get some traffic from the search engines you may want to go a little bit more specific with your keywords that relate to your business. You can then build your web site around these particular keywords on order to drive some free search engine traffic to your site.
There are also many different extensions that are available such as dog com, dot net, dot org and many others. The most common, and the one that you really should try to go for first, is a dot com of course.
If you buy a dot net or a dot org web site address you'll tend to find yourself explaining the fact that it's not a dot com.

It's getting harder and harder to find one that isn't already taken, but don't get discouraged, there are still many, many domain names available.

Last, but not least make sure that you use your imagination.
If you find yourself stuck, asked a friend for some suggestions.
Choosing a domain name is important for the future of your business, so take your time and find the best one that you can.

7 Things To Consider Before Choosing Web Hosting Companies

Choosing a reliable web hosting company can become a daunting task if you are not sure of your expectations, but ask yourself the following questions for example.

1) Expense for your site up and running?
Website hosting may not be the only influential factor for your site expense though. Others might include: SEO, Marketing etc...

2) Space needed for your website
Make sure if your site require large database storage or simple static site with the use of less space.

3) Bandwidth
If you run large files through your site every day, you may require more bandwidth. And for a static site, providing just the information about the company and contact details, you can go for lesser bandwidth.

4) Special software
Make sure, if your site requires any special software to run scripts correctly on your website. Check with the website hosting company.

5) Database
Does your site require a database? Check with the hosting provider, if they can host a database and some providers host only certain types.

6) Server software, technical requirements and hardware
Visualize your site and its purposes. Have a neat navigation chart with links from home page to all internal pages and so on. Write down the function of each link on the website. It is better to work on it twice even three times so that when it is actually set up on your system, you and your hosting provider won't be surprised by any additional requirements which may arise that you have missed.

7) Forums
Go through various forums pertaining to website hosting providers, you will find an abundance of good information.
